Gas Purging And Tightness Testing
As a company, we are able to provide tightness testing on new and existing gas purging pipework within the commercial and industrial sectors.
A gas tightness test is carried out to ensure that the commercial or industrial gas pipework is safe for use, or continued use, as so not to cause a hazard or unsafe situation. Tightness testing for all gas pipework installations is carried out at operating pressure. If any new gas pipework installation or new extension has been carried out to existing gas pipework then this will require purge and tightness testing.
This is to verify that within any tolerances caused by the limited time for testing and the accuracy of fully calibrated instruments used, the pipework is nominally gas tight and is safe for use. If the smell of gas or the presence of gas is detected, even after a satisfactory tightness test, then this would fail the test and would require to be traced and repaired.
These tests exist to ensure that your commercial gas installation pipework is maintained in a safe condition, as set out in The Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998. We would also recommend that all gas installation pipework be inspected and tested on an annual basis, which would normally be carried out at the same time as an annual service on any gas appliances or equipment. Tightness testing should only ever be carried out by an approved commercial gas safe engineer. All completed works will be issued with the correct gas safe certificates and documentation.
Strength Testing
Strength testing is only carried out when any new commercial, or industrial gas pipework installations or extensions to existing commercial gas pipework installations have been made.
